| This is a regular event with seperate men's and women's swimming races down the river between the Quays in the centre of Dublin. Because the river is tidal here, thousands of gallons of water are released from a reservoir upstream. The ladies enter the water at the start and when they are all in position, a rope is released to let them go. Families and supporters line the Quays to cheer them on. |
