| The Gentry |
|
| Fairies are not just little people, there are tall fairies with red eyes that look out angrily at our world. They are known as The Gentry or The Noble people. They are descended from a race of people who are said to have "Fallen from heaven" and they live, invisible to us, in the Otherworld. They can appear to us when they choose searching for human children to abduct, assimilate into their race and eventually marry. In this way they believe that they will become more huma and eventually regain their place in heaven. The Gentry prefer to steal little boys and leave in their place a Changeling - someone not quite human - to be brought up by the parents of the stolen child. Because of this it was the practice in country areas until quite recent times to dress little boys as girls in the hope of saving them from the fairies. |
